Children who will be starting in kindergarten in 2019 and their families were invited to spend an afternoon interacting with children from the 2018 kindergarten class and their families.
Teacher Jacqui Green said it was all about building connections.
“For the first time ever we invited all of the children and their families in together to enjoy a picnic,” she said.
Strong winds forced that picnic indoors, but it still achieved the desired result.
“It gave the kids and their families a chance to mix in an informal setting, and ask questions, and meet each other,” Ms Green said.
“We’re a small community school, so making those connections is important.”
When the winds backed off a touch, the children went outside for some fun activities.
“Hopefully today has taken away some of the anxiety for parents and their children,” Ms Green said.
