This is the 31st year of the appeal which encourages shoppers to purchase and donate gifts for disadvantaged locals by leaving them under the wishing trees in Kmart stores.
“This year we are encouraging Australians to consider donating practical gifts that will make a big difference in the day-to-day lives of those doing it tough,” the Salvation Army’s Janine Kewming said.
“It might be providing a child the back-to-school essentials, a present to help a young adult move out of home, or a gift card so parents and grandparents do not miss out on purchasing a gift for a loved one this Christmas.”
For the first time, the appeal is being extended beyond Christmas this year.
There’s a Kmart at Lake Haven.
