Norah Head Lighthouse Land Manager has won the NSW Department of Industry - Lands and Water, Crown Reserve Community Manager Award.

The win was announced at the 2018 Regional Achievement and Community Awards on Friday night, and the award was presented by Minister for Lands and Forestry, Paul Toole.
Norah Head Lighthouse Land Manager oversees the reserve maintenance, marketing and operations with volunteers and the Board.
“The facilities are a working example of essential maritime infrastructure,” a department spokesperson said.
Visitors have the opportunity to see a historic lighthouse in operation. There is accommodation in the original lightkeeper’s quarters and it’s a popular venue for weddings.
In 2017, the 29 volunteer tour guides worked a total of 7,305 hours allowing the lighthouse to be open 363 days.
The nine category winners were:
- Orange Waratah Sports Club – NSW Department of Industry – Lands & Water Crown Reserve Corporate Manager Award;
- Norah Head Lighthouse Land Manager – NSW Department of Industry – Lands and Water Crown Reserve Community Manager Award;
- Len Waters Culture Tours of Daruka – Ricoh Australia Customer Service Award;
- Anika Molesworth of Broken Hill – Prime Super Agricultural Innovation Award;
- Dr Daisy William of Armidale – TransGrid Leadership Award;
- Mackellar Care Services of Gunnedah – Prime Super Employer Excellence in Aged Care Award;
- The Big Green Cup Café of Bungendore – G.J. Gardner Homes Women Creating Change Award;
- Southern Cotton of Whitton – Awards Australia Business Achievement Award; and
- Orange Sky Laundry Newcastle – icare Connecting Communities Award.
Eight winners each received a trophy and $2,000 courtesy of Awards Australia, and the other winner received an air time package on PRIME7 and trophy.
Sandra Holden was announced as the Repco Authorised Service People’s Choice Award Winner and received a $500 car service voucher.
