But that’s what you’ll get at the Toronto Brass concert at Toronto Workers Club this Sunday, November 25.
It will be the last concert of the year for Toronto Brass, and the band is preparing to have a blast.
“The concert, titled The Thrill of Brass, will feature music from around the world,” the band’s Kylie-Ann Lysaght said.
“There will be the Irish-inspired Cry of the Celts, Slavische Fantasy featuring a solo by Trish O’Hearn on cornet, a medley of Cole Porter favourites, a funky version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller and no brass band concert would be complete without a march,” Ms Lysaght said.
Catalina Brass, the group’s junior training band, will demonstrate how they are progressing by performing a small selection at the beginning of the concert.
“Since its inception 12 months ago, the training band has welcomed new members, some as young as eight,” Ms Lysaght said.
“The band has instruments for loan and anyone considering learning a brass instrument is encouraged to come along to the concert to see what these youngsters have achieved in such a short time.”
Tickets for the concerts cost $15 for adults, and $12 concession. Children will be admitted free.
“Anyone wishing to join the ‘Friends of the Band’ list will receive entry at the concessional price,” Ms Lysaght said.
“This will also enable the band to email you information about further performances.”
