Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper has invited the Wyee community to learn more about the proposed upgrade this Thursday, November 8, from 5pm to 7pm.

That’s when the Transport for NSW project team will be at the station, to explain the upgrade and to answer locals’ questions.

The new station is being delivered as part of the state government’s Transport Access Program.

The Transport Access Program is an initiative to provide safe, modern and accessible transport.

“I am delighted that these upgrades will make Wyee Station accessible to everybody, including those with a disability, limited mobility, parents and carers with prams, and customers with luggage,” Mr Piper said.

“This ‘pop up’ information session is a great opportunity for the Wyee community and public transport customers to find out more about the planned improvements.”

Key features of the planned upgrade include three new lifts; accessible pathways; an additional accessible parking space; a new kiss-and-ride space; and a new family-accessible restroom.

A formal pedestrian crossing is proposed outside the station on Wyee Road.

Improvements to CCTV, wayfinding and lighting to increase safety and security are part of the new design, as are new stairs to replace the current ramp.

Mr Piper said the state government had invested more than $1 billion in the Transport Access Program since 2011. To date, more than 450 projects are either completed or under way across the state.
