Lake Macquarie’s biggest Christmas event will also feature an afternoon screening of family festive movie Christmas All Over Again, live entertainment, fireworks, and an appearance by Santa.
Lake Macquarie City Council’s cultural services manager, Jacqui Hemsley, said landing Leith and Thirsty Merc was a coup.
“Damien is an amazing vocal talent and has vast experience with live performance,” Ms Hemsley said.
“He won Australian Idol in 2006, has released an EP of Christmas carols, and has performed at Carols in the Domain.”
Thirsty Merc have been an Aussie rock institution for more than a decade, and have been nominated for multiple APRA and ARIA awards.
Ms Hemsley said a range of food trucks and free entertainment would operate at the event, which kicks off with the noon Christmas movie screening.
“There will be live local entertainment throughout the day, before the carols kick off at 6.30pm,” Ms Hemsley said.
Further details will be released closer to the event.
Families should look out for a special guest appearance by Santa, and the fireworks display from 9pm.
This year’s event is sponsored by NEWFM 105.3 and Officeworks, the council said.
