Business owners David and Sharen Griffin said they had been happy just to be nominated as a finalist for the NSW title. But to win it, and then win the national title, exceeded their expectations.
“We’ve won awards before, but this is such a big one,” Mr Griffin said.
“Office Choice has 173 sites nationally. And this is just our second year as a fully bannered Office Choice dealer.
“When it was announced that we’d won the NSW title, I was in total shock. My first speech was a bit emotional. I didn’t think we were in the ball park [of contenders].”
The dealer awards are based on a criteria which includes business performance, local activity and overall brand representation and support.
Making news:
A spokesperson for Office Choice said the Morisset business’s win was noteworthy.
“This award is especially pleasing given that Hunter Office Supplies were awarded the Office Connexions Unbranded Dealer of the Year for four consecutive years from 2012 to 2015,” the spokesperson said.
Office Connexions is the Office Choice unbranded model.
The Griffins were presented their award by Office Choice chairman Daniel Kelly and CEO Brad O'Brien at the conference at Crowne Plaza, Hunter Valley.
As part of their prize, the Morisset store received a $5000 cheque to be donated to the local charity of their choice.
Mrs Griffin said the store would make an announcement about their chosen recipient soon.
The Griffins opened the Hunter Ink and Toner store in a small shop on Dora Street in 2007.
They shifted to the larger Alliance Avenue site, as Hunter Office Supplies, in 2011, and for the last two years have been an Office Choice outlet.
The business now employs 12 staff, and services clients from across Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast, and the Hunter.
Mr Griffin paid tribute to his staff.
“We’ve been very lucky in that the core of our team is a really awesome group,” he said.
