Police took to social media on Thursday to urge people not to fall for the scam, which offers a puppy, air freight and freight to the victim’s home for a cheap price – but no dog arrives after the victim sends money.
Police said victims are often provided with fake freight tracking numbers.
Cases of attempted fraud can be reported through the Scam Watch website.
