The band’s enigmatic live shows aren’t easily forgotten.
The Lakes Mail last saw the band in action at the Pure Gold series of concerts, in Sydney, in 2016.
Front man Adam Thompson’s vocals and stage presence made his performance one of the highlights of that show.
After breaking into the Australian music scene in the early 1990s, Chocolate Starfish released two Top 10 albums and six Top 50 singles.
You might also recall that they enjoyed a good cover.
In fact, their first hit was a cover of Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain.
The boys are back into cover territory with their latest shows – and in a big way.
As part of the Chocolate Starfish Classic Album Series, the band are now on a national tour performing the classic INXS album KICK in its entirety, from start to finish, the way an album is meant to be experienced.
It’s a Chocolate Starfish show, so expect pure, unadulterated entertainment, intense performances delivered with revelry and, of course, a few surprises.
“We wanted to showcase an Australian album that had – and still has – a massive impact, and KICK ticks all the boxes,” Thompson said.
“It’s an exciting honour to bring this to life in our own way.”
And don’t worry about the band’s match fitness.
They’re coming off a series of gigs in the 2018 Red Hot Summer Tour, and are set to join the Red Hot Summer line-up in 2019.
This year, they released the Spider album, their first long player in 20 years, and an appreciated follow-up to their five-track EP Primitive released in 2015.
Catch Chocolate Starfish performing INXS’s KICK album at Wests Cardiff this Friday, October 19.
Tickets cost $35 for members, and $40 for guests.
