The creative and talented women of the Anglican Care Auxiliary are gearing up for their 41st annual Art and Craft Fair from next Friday, October 19, to Sunday, October 21.
And Anglican Care marketing manager, Kylie Jacques, is full of admiration for the prolific and generous women in the group.
“The talent, enthusiasm and support of the Anglican Care Auxiliary is truly a blessing to Anglican Care and has been for many years,” Ms Jacques said.
“The challenge now is to find the next generation to replace these incredible ladies who are now celebrating 41 years of this event.”
Not that the auxiliary women will hear talk of ‘retiring’.
But many of the women in the group are aged in their 70s, 80s and beyond, Ms Jacques said.
The Art and Craft Fair will again be held at Anglican Care’s CA Brown Village, in Booragul.

It’s an event where local artists showcase their craftsmanship and where items handmade by local artisans and the auxiliary are for sale.
The fair is open to the public, and is always well attended by Anglican Care residents, staff, their families and friends.
Ms Jacques said the vast experience of the women ensured that the fair featured arts, crafts and recipes of a bygone era.
The art and craft exhibition showcases works by professional and amateur artists from across the Hunter.
“It will features paintings, embroideries, patchwork, baby and children’s wear and beautiful, home-made cakes, sweets, pastries and jams,” Ms Jacques said.
The artworks this year will include water colours, oils and miniatures, while the crafts range from hand-crafted jewellery and embroideries to beading, cards and ceramics.
Anglican Care’s Auxiliary has played a vital role in the continued growth and expansion of Anglican Care, through their ongoing enthusiasm and support which is fundamental for the organisation, Ms Jacques said.
“The group has amassed more than $500,000 in fundraising donations over their existence; which is an incredible achievement.”
The Anglican Care Auxiliary was established in 1957 and comprises a dedicated group of volunteers who have had various levels of involvement with Anglican Care over the past 60 years.
All items featured in the fair will be sale. Raffle tickets will also be on offer.
Devonshire tea and light lunches will be available over the weekend.
