LAKE Macquarie resident Freda Priestly has received a congratulatory message from the Queen on the eve of her 100th birthday this Saturday.

Each Thursday, Ms Priestly attends Anglican Care’s Alkira Respite and Day Therapy Centre, at Kilpatrick Court, Toronto.

The centre will host a special birthday party for her today.

Freda’s son, and primary carer, Kevin, credits her longevity to three things: a sustained healthy lifestyle, never smoking, and never drinking alcohol.

“She has always been an extremely hard worker over her life, always doing something and never sitting still,” Kevin said.

“She is still living at home and we are in the same house where mum grew up in Teralba. She loves still being at home but enjoys visiting Alkira each Thursday.”
