Michael Jackson – The Legacy Tour is produced and directed by US native Hall, a long-time performer and admirer of the late entertainer.
But what truly sets Legacy, which is a blend of Jackson’s Bad, Dangerous and HIStory solo world tours, apart is that it is the only tribute show that involves staff and band members that have worked with him.
“It’s much more than just a tribute show or impersonator act,” Hall said.
Hall has worked with guitarist Tommy Organ from the This Is It tour, bassist and a long-time colleague of Jackson’s, Sam Sims, plus world renowned bassist and choreographer LaVelle Smith Jr, who featured in both the Bad and Dangerous tours, for Legacy.
Sims is a musical director of Legacy but the show is engineered by Michael Prince, who was Jackson’s personal engineer for more than 15 years.
Prince engineered Jackson’s This Is It tour and the This Is It movie.
Legacy also involves keyboardist Morris Pleasures, who did studio work for and toured with Earth Wind and Fire, and background vocalists Kevin Dorsey and Ken Stacey who worked on the Bad, Dangerous and This Is It tours.
Additionally, Legacy includes industry professionals Michael White (drummer) who has worked with the likes of Janet Jackson and dancers Kane Silver, Patrick Packing, Malik Colman and Junito Sanchez.
“This exceptional cast recreates the soul and passion of MJ’s music from the amazing vocals to identical choreography to the replica of costumes and so much more,” Hall said. “This show recreates the most authentic and electrifying Michael Jackson concert experience you will ever see.”
Hall, from Texas, has been performing since he was three. He is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and musician.
His love of Michael Jackson started at a young age and he is now recognised worldwide to deliver the style and quality of show Jackson was famous for.
Hall performed for Jackson’s family, including his mother Katherine, in 2011. He said it was an “out of body experience and a very special memory.”
Hall embodies the voice, dance moves and persona of Jackson to take audiences on a visual and musical voyage through the artistic life of the idolised entertainer.
The choreographed dance moves, live band and multi-faceted light show promises to repeat the Michael Jackson experience.
The show features replica sets of Jackson’s concerts as well as costumes including the silver sequined glove and his signature dance moves including the moonwalk.
“I wear all the well-known outfits from his hit songs, videos and concerts and I dress my dancers as well,” Hall said.
The Legacy tour will stop at Belmont 16s on Saturday, October 13. Tickets, available by calling the club on (02) 4945 0888 or online from 16s.com.au, cost $50 per person for the show only or $89 per person for dinner and the show, which begins at 8.30pm.
