Five Lake Macquarie artists will host a pop-up art studio at Swansea next Thursday where they will paint while explaining their creative processes and chatting to their audience.
The local artists, who usually create at Yara Balba Art Studio, in Mandalong, are currently exhibiting their work at Swansea Library as part of Lake Macquarie Libraries’ Launchpad initiative.
Their exhibition, entitled Thursdays in honour of the day they normally get together, includes oil and acrylic paintings, decorated 3D objects and ceramics, watercolours and working sketches.
“The works are representative of the wide range of styles and techniques explored at Yara Balba Studio,” artist, teacher and studio owner, Margrete Erling, said.
Works by Ms Erling, Coralie Smyth, Lynn Davis, Di Powell and Pam Garfoot are featured in the exhibition which opened on August 24, and will remain on show until November 2.
Next Thursday, September 20, the artists will take the exhibition experience one step further.
“From noon until 3pm, the Thursday artists will host a unique, temporary re-creation of their studio environment at Swansea Library,” Ms Erling said.
“The’ll spend the afternoon painting, demonstrating, and chatting about their creative processes.
“The public are invited to drop in, share a cuppa, and experience the relaxed environment of the ‘open studio’ event.”
