Sunday’s clash saw the Hammerheads score just a single time through Lyric Kopa, and although they controlled long periods of possession in the clash the Heelers’ defence stood tall.
Muswellbrook led 12-0 at the half break, with another added soon after the beginning of the second to leave the Hammerheads trailing by 19 points.
Although Kopa found Southern Lakes’ opening try, it also proved to be the final of the club’s season, as Muswellbrook’s Cameron Young iced the knockout fixture late on.
The victorious Heelers now move on to face Easts 1 in the preliminary final.
