The much-anticipated Pasterfield Sports Complex, at Cameron Park, is a $15 million sports and recreation facility built to cater for one of the region’s fastest-growing communities.
The eight-hectare complex features one of Lake Macquarie’s largest sporting fields – capable of hosting cricket and various football codes – along with netball courts, practice nets, a skate park, playground, exercise equipment and pedestrian and cycle paths.
A new administration building looking out across the football fields offers a function room, modern change facilities, conference rooms, kiosk and storage space. The community is invited to celebrate the opening of this fantastic facility at a family fun day on Sunday. The open day will feature AFL and cricket demonstrations, skate workshops, a free barbecue, giveaways, face-painting, segway rides and other activities.
The complex has been funded through developer contributions. Cameron Park is an area full of young families and it is wonderful to be able to deliver recreational infrastructure of this scale for the community. Council has a strong focus on providing facilities that promote health lifestyles and encourage people to make the most of our great outdoors. The Pasterfield Sports Complex will build on the already strong sense of community in Cameron Park area and is set to become an important social hub.
Toronto Foreshore
Council is developing a masterplan for the Toronto foreshore and is seeking feedback from the community on the types of facilities, amenities and environment they would like to see along the stretch from Goffet Park to Bath Street. That might include a boardwalk or shared pathway, exercise equipment, playgrounds, picnic tables, public art, or new infrastructure to support more dining and entertainment options.
This is the first of a number of opportunities the community will have to contribute ideas on the future of the foreshore area and how it can be enhanced.
To share your ideas or find out more, visit shape.lakemac.com.au/future-toronto or attend drop-in sessions on Wednesday, August 22, Toronto Town Square, 10am-noon; Saturday, September 1, Toronto Foreshore, 9am-noon; Sunday, September 16, Lions Park, Fennell Bay, 8-11am.
