The RFS will target about 1.3 hectares of bushland at 119 Avondale Road, starting at about 3pm and finishing about 6pm.
There may be some smoke and fire activity visible from local roadways during and after the hazard reduction operations, the RFS said.
“Motorists in this area should slow down and take care if driving through smoke, including keeping windows up and turning their headlights on,” an RFS spokesperson said.
“Residents in this area should take the appropriate precautions including keeping doors and windows closed, remove washing from clothes lines and ensure any pets are in a protected area.”
Residents may also experience discoloured water due to firefighters extracting water from the water mains during the hazard reduction operation.
The hazard reduction may be re-scheduled should weather conditions be inappropriate.
“Ongoing patrols of the burn will be conducted as required,” the RFS spokesperson said.
