This year’s HSC dance performance and practical exams started on Monday, and will be followed by drama performances from August 27. About 1000 dance students will perform in coming weeks, along with almost 5000 drama students and almost 6000 music students. More than a third of this year’s 77,000 students are taking one of nine HSC subjects with a practical or performance component. HSC written exams begin on October 18, starting with English.

TAFE worth a free look
HSC students and school leavers will take a break from the books and head to a hands-on Open Day at TAFE NSW campuses this Saturday to get a taste of vocational training and education options for next year. With fee-free apprenticeships and Smart and Skilled-funded courses, there’s never been a better time to study at TAFE NSW, the state government said.
Drop off for donations in Morisset
MORISSET Pumps and Rural Supplies, at 5/1 Accolade Avenue, Morisset, is a drop-off point for items being collected for the Aussie Helpers drought appeal. “Already, in one week, we have managed to raise over $200 and have a small amount of non-perishable food to send to Aussie Helpers,” Morisset Pumps and Rural Supplies manager Bradie Heywood said. People can donate clothes, non-perishable food, animal produce and money at the store.
Discover ancestor stories at the library
CENTRAL Coast Council Library Service is inviting locals to get involved in one of the most popular hobbies in the world and discover their family history this August – Family History Month.
Council has hosted a number of events to help locals become super sleuths when it comes to discovering their family history.
There will be a session about researching ‘Family History Online’ on Tuesday, August 21, from 10.30am to noon at Kincumber Library.
And a session on ‘Using Trove (digitised newspapers) for Family History Research’ on Wednesday, August 22, from 10.30am to noon, at Tuggerah Library; or Thursday, August 23, from 1.30pm to 3pm, at Toukley Library.
