The council is considering a redesign of the Village Green, and a reconfiguration of the Coles car park.
Mayor Jane Smith said the two projects would improve public spaces in the town centre, and help to “activate” Toukley.
“By relocating the existing amenity block from the Village Green to the Coles car park, we will have a great new space that we can activate for our local residents and visitors,” Cr Smith said.
“As such, we would like to hear from the community about their ideas on what they want to see in this new Village Green space, so it will be a place designed by the community, for the community.
“The second project is the reconfiguration of the Coles car park, making it safer for pedestrians. We’re calling on the local community to provide us with their feedback on our preliminary plans to reconfigure this space.”

Cr Smith said locals could also have a say about the entire Toukley Town Centre via a survey.
Rosemaree Rettenmund of Greater Toukley Vision (GTV), which markets and promotes the greater Toukley area, said the possible additions to the town centre space included lights in trees, children’s play areas, staged climbing facilities, and a permanent table tennis set-up.
We would like to hear from the community about their ideas.

“We really want to encourage people to get involved,” Ms Rettenmund said.
“They can call in to our office in Ron Alt Lane [next to the butcher shop] and complete the survey.”
The GTV office also has cards on which residents could make their own suggestions, she said.
Cr Smith said the survey results would enable council to “update, prioritise and continue to deliver” projects and activities identified in the 2013 Toukley Town Centre Masterplan.
Locals can have their say on the two projects, and complete the survey, by visiting yourvoiceourcoast.com.
They can also have their say at council’s pop-up stalls at:
- The Village Green, on Thursday, August 23, from 9am to 11am; and
- Toukley Markets, on Sunday, August 26, from 7am to 1pm.
Consultation closes on September 5.
