It is one of three Lake Macquarie City Council holiday parks to have received a 2018 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award.
The others were Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park, and Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park.
Now in its eighth year, the achievement celebrates hospitality businesses that have consistently achieved great traveller reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year.
TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel review site. It selects its Certificate of Excellence winners by taking into account the quality and quantity of reviews submitted by travellers over a 12-month period.
A business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of a least four out of five and a minimum number of reviews to qualify for the award.
In January, council revealed that Wangi Point Holiday Park had enjoyed a bumper summer, with many guests doubling the duration of their stay.
Council’s property and business development manager, Kate Cramp, said Belmont Lakeside received the award for the fourth year in a row and Swansea Lakeside the third year in a row.
“All of our park managers are focused on providing excellent customer service and are to be congratulated on receiving this recognition,” Ms Cramp said.
“Council’s holiday parks team highly values independent traveller reviews, with feedback used to improve our facilities, customer service and visitor experiences.
“Over the past seven years, an extensive $8 million capital works program has been completed at all four of our holiday parks. This has been funded wholly from park revenue and has delivered a range of improved facilities.”
Works have included new amenities blocks, swimming pool upgrades, office extensions, new cabins (including accessible cabins), multipurpose recreation buildings, camp kitchens, road reconstructions, new powered sites, electricity supply upgrades and landscaping works.
Ms Cramp said the Holiday Parks had performed exceptionally well over the last 12 months, with revenue, profits and visitor numbers up across the four locations.
“We had more than 6,000 additional tourists stay in 2017/2018, with more than 193,000 guest nights spent at our four parks.
“These results have been achieved through an increased focus on customer service and improvements to facilities and visitor experiences,” Ms Cramp said.
The Holiday Parks have also recently undergone a brand revamp to ensure they remain relevant in today’s competitive tourism market, she said.
The new Lake Mac Holiday Parks brand allows customers to easily recognise the Holiday Parks within Lake Macquarie operating under council’s management, and will be progressively rolled out across the four parks over the next 12 months.
