Just before midday on Monday emergency services were called to Fox Close, Kariong, about six kilometres west of Gosford.
They had received reports a man had been stabbed in the arm.
A 30-year-man was taken to Gosford Hospital where he will undergo surgery for a deep laceration to his arm.
Officers from Brisbane Water Police District arrested a 17-year-old male at his home in Mardi about 3pm Monday.
He was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding in company.
The teenager was given conditional bail and is due to appear in a Children’s Court on Friday August 17.
