The school’s new T-block includes 39 classrooms, comprising 26 general classrooms and 13 specialist classrooms for senior classes, food technology, wood and metal work, and science, as well as reception, administration, and storage areas.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald, welcomed the project reaching this important milestone.
“I’m pleased the NSW Liberal National government is delivering this important project, in part due to a $5.3 million contribution from the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund,” Mr MacDonald said.
The partially selective school, at Gateshead, accepts selected students from Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast, and across the Hunter region.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the state government was working hard to deliver the school facilities students and local communities needed.
“This project will help provide the high-quality education our children need to succeed in the 21st century,” Mr Stokes said.
The government was spending $6 billion over four years building 170 new or upgraded schools and $747 million on school maintenance, he said.
This is the biggest investment in public school infrastructure in the history of NSW, the minister said.
