Façon editor-in-chief and creative director Lara Lupish said the Face of Façon competition prize could launch an aspiring Hunter-based model “right into the spotlight”.
“We’re looking for someone that loves the clothes they own, and love the scene, and the culture,” Ms Lupish said.
“The search is looking for talents in Newcastle and the surrounding areas. We want to showcase regional talent and the standard of our magazine is national so we have a platform to put these rising talents on the map.”
A launch was held last week at Westfield Kotara, with the premiere of a cinema advertisement to promote the competition, and Ms Lupish urged any aspiring models to “give it a shot” now that entries are open.
“I know a lot of people will think they ‘don’t have what it takes’, but I promise anyone that’s thinking that – there’s no harm in trying,” she said. “We’re looking for a lot more than people know, and you never know if you’ve really got what it takes until you have a crack and see.”
A runway event will be held at Westfield Kotara in October to announce the winner. As well as a contract, the winner will appear in the nationally-distributed Façon magazine in December. The winner also gets a VIP movie pass, which provides unlimited movie passes for two for a year at Event Cinemas.
