They will take part in the Bay to Bay Running Festival on Sunday, June 17.
Event organisers have again nominated Central Coast Local Health District to be a major beneficiary of money raised from participants in the event.
It will be the second year in a row that the dedicated team of medical, nursing and allied health staff will be doing their bit to raise funds for the local hospitals’ emergency departments, and other local charities.
Staff will be wearing bright red t-shirts and joining hundreds of other runners from across the Central Coast, and beyond, for the annual event from Woy Woy to Gosford.
Emergency physician Dr Steve Skinner said staff were keen to get involved and help raise funds for a cause close to their hearts.
“It’s great to see staff so eager to join in and help raise money towards the purchase of new equipment that will go a long way in caring for our patients at Wyong and Gosford hospitals,” Dr Skinner said.
Now in its 14th year, the Bay to Bay is set to be the biggest festival to date with the half marathon already attracting more than 550 runners, and the 12-kilometre fun run and kids’ fun run also enticing lots of interest.
Event organiser and Terrigal Trotters president, Jenny Barker, said it wasn’t too late to sign up for the day. Online entries are open until 5pm on Saturday, June 16.
Runners who sign up after June 7 can collect their race number from Central Coast Stadium on Saturday, June 16, from 2pm to 4pm; or alternatively from the CWA Hall in Woy Woy, on race day, from 6am.
“I’m always impressed by how much the local community gets behind events that benefit the Coast,” Ms Barker said.
“All funds raised at the Bay to Bay Running Festival will remain on the Coast to benefit us all.
“The fun run and half marathon start at Fisherman’s Wharf in Woy Woy, taking in a beautiful scenic route along Brisbane Water and finishing up in Gosford.
“Participants can run or walk at their own pace – we have people of all ages and fitness levels taking part. It’s a great opportunity to get together with friends, family and work colleagues for a morning of exercise, fresh air, and all for a very worthy cause.”
