Participants are encouraged to take weeds from their properties to the workshop, have them identified, and learn the best control measures for them.
“Weeds can be spread by people, vehicles and even animals. We need your help to stop weed spread,” a spokesperson for Hunter LLS said.
Hunter LLS is working with local councils to bridge the city-country divide by engaging with the region’s semi-rural communities to help them meet their responsibilities to tackle weeds and pest animal control.
Hunter LLS will also have biosecurity staff on hand to explain a property owner’s responsiblities in controlling pests on their property, and how to become involved in local control programs for pests such as foxes, rabbits and wild dogs.
The event is funded by Hunter Catchment Contributions, which are paid by some ratepayers in Lake Macquarie.
The workshop will be held at Wyee Community Hall, on Thursday, May 31, from 9am to 12.30pm. Register by Tuesday, May 29, at hunterlls.wufoo.eu/forms/z7fbmfh150pp8r/
