Chermside earned his ‘golden ticket’ to the International Scooter Association’s World Final after being named Australia’s champion at the Australian Scooter Association titles in Sydney, and is looking to go one further at Barcelona’s Parc del Forum.
The 17-year-old champion, who is being sponsored by Apex Pro Scooters for the journey, will be joined by two more local Lake Macquarie athletes on his Spanish tour – second placed Angus Hughes and Dane Forbes, who was named the New South Wales state champion.
Chermside took to social media after taking out the top spot in Sydney, acknowledging those who placed below him as well as budding the victory the “best day” of his life.
“Best day of my life,” the Lake Macquarie scooter star wrote. “Rode my best and came out as the Australasian pro champion.”
“So happy for everyone that competed and qualified, especially to my bro Angus Hughes for second.”
The three local scootering experts will journey to Spain for the biggest event on the scooter calendar in June, after a series of qualifying tournaments around Europe, America and the world are completed.
The two day event, held at the Parc del Forum, showcases the top national and international scooter riders, as well as skateboarding, BMX, inline, longboard and streetboard competitors.
