The Bernie Goodwin Memorial Reserve Master Plan was first placed on exhibition for a period of time in 2016, with focus on the proximity of the skate park to local residences.
Now after two years of deliberation the new location of the suburb’s skate park, and overall plans for the memorial reserve, have been unveiled.
“During the exhibition of the original draft Master Plan, we heard a range of perspectives from the community, the majority of whom were in favour of a skate park being built in the reserve; however, there was some concern about it being too close to nearby homes,” Mr Hain said.
“Council is committed to providing the people of Morisset with a variety of high-quality recreational facilities. In order to deliver on this goal, we are proposing the skate park be included in our plans for the Bernie Goodwin Memorial Reserve, but placed in a new location that provides a sufficient buffer between the facility and local residences.”
The process is still underway however, and council has invited the community to provide further feedback on the revised draft of the plan.
Members of the community are also invited to a drop-in session to be held at the reserve on Wednesday, May 9 from 10am. At the meeting council staff will be available to discuss the changes in the Bernie Goodwin Memorial Reserve plans, or further changes the community may feel are necessary.
