IT’S been five years in the making, but Southlakes Men’s Shed has finally achieved its own premises at Morisset Showground.

The group has been operating out of sheds owned by its founding president John Mulcahy and his wife, Laurene, at Dora Creek.
After years of community work and social projects, and with the assistance of some generous local people, the group raised sufficient funds to build its own shed.
“The building is completed, and is located at Morisset Showground as a lease from Crown Lands,” Mr Mulcahy said.
“And it’s now ready for occupancy.”
Mr Mulcahy said it was now time to resign as president, after having brought the shed project to fruition.
He said his plan had always been to lead the group for however long it took to build a shed of their own.
“I want to thank all of the community-minded people who helped make the group’s shed dream a reality,” he said.
They included Peter Cullen (of the Bay Hotel Motel), Reg Ryan, Mark Harding, Steve Ford (of Ford Homes), Nick Glesic and Danny Ross.
“It has been a tough few years but the end result has made it very satisfying, as has been the making of many new friends in the community,” Mr Mulcahy said.
