MAJOR upgrade work on the M1 Pacific Motorway from Tuggerah to Doyalson will stop to ensure safety during the Easter long weekend.

A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said no work would be carried out from Friday, March 30, to Monday, April 2.
Major works from Kariong to Somersby, and on Weakleys Drive, will also cease over the week.
Motorists are reminded that although there will be no work at the sites they should slow down and be alert since work sites will still be in place.
“Roads and Maritime Services is working with the Transport Management Centre to manage peaks in traffic during the holidays. Motorists travelling along the M1 are encouraged to plan their journeys and allow extra travel time,” the spokesperson said.
“Work is progressing well on the Tuggerah-to-Doyalson upgrade with the two northbound travel lanes across Wyong River returned to normal traffic arrangements, as work to widen to three northbound lanes has now been completed.
“Two lanes will operate in each direction during the Easter long weekend however motorists are reminded barriers, narrowed lane widths and the reduced 80kmh speed limit across the site remain in place for motorist safety.
“Work to widen the southbound lanes across Wyong River is expected to start after the Easter long weekend.
“This stage of the work involves implementing a southbound lane separation for one kilometre, from just north of Alison Road to just past Wyong River. This changed traffic arrangement is expected to be in place until early June, weather permitting.”
Major work between the Kariong and Somersby interchanges and at the Weakleys Drive and John Renshaw Drive intersection is scheduled to start after the Easter long weekend.
“The M1 Pacific Motorway upgrades will provide better and more reliable trips through this busy highway, with Australian and NSW governments investing $391.6 million to provide for these crucial improvements,” the spokesperson said.
All three upgrades are expected to be finished by the end of 2020, weather permitting.
“When completed, motorists will experience increased traffic capacity along the motorway which means less congestion and better travel times, improved road safety and a smoother road surface.”
