In 1989 Terry and his wife Toula Chriss, purchased a MFC Supermarket located on Eastern Road, Turramurra. Between them, they operated the store 7 days a week with the only helping hand being a shelf packer during the week and their children on the weekends and after school.

Since then the Chriss Family have gone on to grow the business from strength to strength, with the family now running 6 stores including IGA Wangi Wangi.
“We have a fantastic team of staff who all love to create a cheerful atmosphere in store, our team believe whole heartedly in good old fashioned customer service and they love to give back to the community,” says Terry.

They understand how important it is to have a great shopping experience at your local IGA. We still have the original staff working with us who are fantastic, and the expansion of the store has created over 15 jobs.
Store manager John and his team have well over 50 years combined retail experience, they are passionate about serving the community.
“John loves to promote some of the great weekly specials on our face book page and his videos have become quite popular and definitely drawn in a crowd, he really values the role we play in providing for the community here.”.
John’s focus is to have a fresh unique range in the store and he works tirelessly to achieve that every day. He also gets involved with community activities and can often be seen manning some of the Saturday BBQ’s along with local schools and clubs to help them raise money.
“Our Saturday BBQ’s are such a hit in Wangi and our locals love that they support the businesses in the town. We currently sponsor 9 local charities and community groups within the area and we are very proud to do so,” adds Terry.
With renovations recently completed the store now includes a wonderful fresh offer in all departments from produce, meat, and the bakery as well as the expanded deli that offers fresh seafood and gourmet deli lines.
Supporting local suppliers is important to John and his team, with products supplied from local names such as Newcastle Quality Small Goods and Wyee Meats and the locals seem love it too.
“We have added an additional 4000 lines to our existing range and over 1500 specials in store every week, we are delighted to be able to offer our Wangi customers such a good choice here and look forward to continuing to contribute to the community for many years to come.”
