Commonwealth Bank employees are allocating $10 million (which was donated to the CommBank Foundation by the bank) to community organisations around Australia to mark a 100-year legacy of giving, with 1,000 centenary grants of $10,000 being distributed.
More than 13,000 current and retired bank employees donate a portion of their income to the program, with the bank contributing up to $2 million each year, as well.
The bank’s Morisset branch employees nominated PCYC Morisset for the valuable services it provides to the community. The inspiring and far-reaching impact of the work undertaken by PCYC Morisset was a crucial factor in it receiving the grant, the bank said.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support organisations like PCYC Morisset in the important work they do for our local community,” Commonwealth Bank Morisset branch manager Shannon O’Dea said.
PCYC Morisset manager Rosmairi Dawson said the donation would have a huge impact on the programs the centre could offer.
They included a movie-making workshop in the coming school holidays, a new Friday drop-in program, and a police initiative to engage at-risk youths and build their self-esteem and work-ready skills.
