The NSW Transport Management Centre has urged patrons to delay their trips until replacement buses can begin running between the two Hunter stations.
Passengers are also urged to allow plenty of extra travel time, listen to announcements and check indicator boards.
The train line measures are the second to frustrate Hunter commuters on Tuesday after an early morning crash at Tarro left drivers caught in queues more than five kilometres long.
The delays started just after 7am after an accident involving a truck and car near Anderson Drive.
Emergency services were called to the scene and remained on site at 8am, with two women in their 20s reportedly treated for minor injuries at the scene.
