Liberal Senator Arthur Sinodinos said the funding was available through Round 2 of the federal government’s Solar Communities program.
“This is a great opportunity for Dobell community groups, such as sporting clubs, scouts, welfare centres and surf lifesaving clubs, to become involved,” Senator Sinodinos said.
“They can not only reduce their electricity costs, but also create their own power to reduce demand on the grid.”
Senator Sinodinos said Australia had the highest penetration of rooftop solar in the world.
“One in five Australian homes has rooftop solar and an increasing number of small businesses are making the most of the financial and environmental benefits of solar,” Senator Sinodinos said.
Applications for Round 2 of the Solar Communities program close on May 31.
