Our feet are so important, they are the first point of contact with the ground
After graduating in Podiatry from Newcastle University in 2011, Lesley Calvert - Evers began practicing with ModPod Podiatry in Sydney. After a sea-change took her and her young family to the growing town of Morisset, she opened the doors to her own practice in January this year and has quickly become entrenched in community life and of course the health of the local’s feet.
“As times goes on there’s more and more people taking an interest in health, fitness and taking care of themselves generally, that includes feet,” Lesley begins.
“Our feet are so important, they are the first point of contact with the ground and carry our weight everyday, so addressing issues and wearing the right shoes is essential. Simple things like making sure you change your trainers regularly can make all the difference,” she adds.
From skin and toenail problems to functional issues within the feet, Lesley deals with a variety of complaints in all ages.
“I find people tend to prefer a professional to deal with any concerns, we might have people who have trouble reaching or seeing their feet, to patients that arrive with pain in the heel that might require a biomechanical assessment,” she explains.
“The key is to never ignore an issue and get podiatric treatments regularly, particularly for patients with diabetes,” she urges.
Located in Parkview Plaza, Lesley is able to accommodate patients with early or late appointments, as a busy mum, she understands that providing flexibility for patients is a must. As the practice grows and she gets to know the local community, Lesley finds her passion for podiatry is also growing.
“I am lucky that I love my work and helping people by looking after their feet. It’s my passion to see patients and take their pain away.”
“Morisset is a great place to live and work, I am so thankful to have met some of the local business owners in Morisset and I can’t thank them enough for being so welcoming and supportive to me and the business. The community is so caring toward one another, this is definitely the environment I want to be in. “
