It was part of the school’s contribution to Clean Up Australia Day.
About 30 HCLM students and staff helped to remove litter from the nature reserve, lake foreshore, and the surrounding streets as part of the nation-wide event.
Teacher James Lynch said the school was committed to teaching students to give back to the local community.
“It was a great to see students enthusiastically getting involved in Clean Up Australia day today. Seeing students demonstrating good values is what education is all about,” Mr Lynch said.
The students agreed.
“It was a good opportunity to help the community by cleaning up and protecting the environment,” student Caleb Brown said.
“It was fun to help clean up the natural environment around our school. It was my first time participating,” Quinn Rose said.
Student Rebecca McBride was particularly happy to lend a hand to the clean up effort. “I am passionate about protecting ecosystems and it was great to be able to clear rubbish from Morisset,” she said.
Across NSW, an estimated 246,108 volunteers were involved in Clean Up Australia Day this year.
