Mr Hayes went to Canberra on Monday and met with Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg whom he said would extend the deadline in order to consider matters of concern raised about the proposed coal mine at Bushells Ridge.
Mr Hayes told ABC Central Coast Radio Mr Frydenberg was “very receptive and very concerned” about matters Mr Hayes raised. He said he got the “distinct impression” the Minister “wants to protect the catchment and doesn’t want mining to impact on it”.
Mr Frydenberg wanted to now “speak with all the experts”, Mr Hayes said, to verify the veracity of the concerns.
