Graeme Hooper of the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise said this year’s Paddlefest, to be held on Sunday, March 4, would include the first Melon Splash.
“We are inviting participants to come with something fun that floats - rubber duckies or pink flamingos included – that they can paddle for 100 metres to raise funds for the Hunter Melonoma Foundation,” Mr Hooper said.
The Melon Splash will be held close to shore.
“The distance is suitable for kids and families and will be fun. Feel free to come in fancy dress - maybe something to do with a melon?” he said.
Face painters will be on hand to add some colour for the children.
Paddlefest typically involves about 500 people paddling in everything from kayaks and stand-up paddle boards to dragon boats and outriggers.
