Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast, Scot MacDonald, said feedback on the proposal was invited until next Wednesday, February 14, to allow Roads and Maritime Services to understand issues and minimise potential impacts.
“The Central Coast Regional Plan 2036 has identified Warnervale as a regional growth centre and it is anticipated there will be around 75,500 additional people living in the area by 2036 so it is essential planning starts now to cater for future growth,” Mr MacDonald said.
“As such, Roads and Maritime Services is investigating the feasibility of providing a link road between Wyong and Warnervale.
“Part of the proposal includes investigating a new 2.3-kilometre two-lane link road between Pacific Highway at Wyong, and Albert Warner Drive, at Warnervale, including a bridge across Porters Creek Wetland.”
Mr MacDonald said investigations were also being carried out for the future widening of the Pacific Highway to two lanes in each direction between Cutler Drive and Amy Close, as well as upgrading the Britannia Drive intersection to traffic lights.
“This includes replacing the bridge across the railway with a longer, wider and higher bridge,” he said.
“Roads and Maritime is also considering the inclusion of a shared pedestrian and cycle path on the western side of the roads from Cutler Drive to Lakes Anglican Grammar, including connections to Amy Close.”
The proposed future link could support growth and productivity at Warnervale and Wyong, improve access to public transport, and encourage the use of active transport as well as reduce delays on the M1 Pacific Motorway for traffic and freight, he said.
