Lake Macquarie City Council’s acting manager of community planning, Wes Hain, said the event was the local government area’s biggest of the year and included something for the whole family to enjoy. “Carols by Candlelight is one of the most popular events in the Lake Macquarie calendar and this year...[was] another fantastic evening for the community,” Mr Hain said.
The event included free children’s activities and entertainment from 1pm, before guests Toni Childs and Judah Kelly – who won the sixth series of The Voice Australia – took to the stage for the evening concert at 6.30pm. Free wi-fi was provided to allow attendees to sing along to carols using an online songbook.
The one and only Santa Claus took time out of present preparation to visit, before a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.
