The Community Christmas Carols at Avondale School, in Cooranbong, had barely concluded on Sunday night when social media began to light up with thanks and praise from locals.

The school’s Terrina Mesaric said an estimated 5000 people attended an awesome night.

“The was a great atmosphere, the weather was fantastic, and did you see the moon!” Ms Mesaric said.

“Fireworks at the end of the night topped off a great event.”

And is seems local families agreed.

Here’s a selection of the messages they left on the school’s Facebook page:

“Fantastic evening, great atmosphere, great food, outstanding performances and firework spectacular!”

“Just got home from a great afternoon and night at Avondale. Very well done.”

“Thanks Avondale School, was a great afternoon and evening, well organised and spectacular ending.”

“Well done, Avondale School. What a fabulous event. Well organised from the beginning. The whole event was lovely with a really good energy. What a rare thing in a community to have such a well put together event with free entry.”

The on-stage performers included Harrison Craig, Colin Buchanan, Felix Quinn Music, Ashrae, Dan Murphy and The Promise.

Santa’s arrival by helicopter was a highlight.
