If those terms mean anything to you (or your kids), you will be interested in the community consultation council is undertaking for the new Charlestown Skate Park.
Our consultants, Convic, have come up with a fantastic concept design for the park based on previous community suggestions, and now we are taking that design back to the community for feedback.
We staged two workshops last week (pictured), which were great fun, with more than 40 skaters and riders coming along to provide their ideas on what the new park should look like.
The concept plan is for a transitional-style skate park offering areas for beginners, intermediate and advanced skaters, as well as scooter and BMX riders. It features four bowls including a deep, shallow, mini and flow bowl, as well as a hip into bank wall, mogul and spine.
The facility is one of a number of skate parks Council is planning to build around the city, with new parks also earmarked for Windale, Cameron Park, Morisset and Thomas H Halton Park at Croudace Bay. Skate parks are beneficial to our communities for many reasons: not only do they provide a fun, recreational outlet, they are meeting spots for people that enliven public spaces and encourage socialisation.
If you, or a young person you know, would like to have a say on the new Charlestown Skate Park, visit our feedback page at shape.lakemac.com.au/skate-lake-mac and share your ideas. The consultation is open until Friday, November 17.
Music under the stars
Mother Nature provided a perfect balmy spring evening for the launch of this season’s Music in the Podium series at Warners Bay on Friday night.
Music in the Podium, organised by the Warners Bay Chamber of Commerce and supported by Council, presents weekly outdoor concerts until late March.
The fantastic program of performances lined up for this summer will make Friday nights on the Warners Bay Foreshore a ‘must do’ activity.
With the lake and our newly rejuvenated foreshore providing the perfect backdrop, the community can come together to enjoy great music and a relaxed vibe out in the open air.
