Morisset Golf Club professional David Stretton said the event – which has again attracted a quality field of 50 professionals – was already popular with spectators.
“So this year we’ve decided to host the presentation around the 18th green on Sunday night,” Stretton said.
“We’ll have an outdoors bar, there’ll be some light music, and we really want people to come down and enjoy the daylight savings time on the course.”
He said the presentation would be kept short, and the emphasis would be on enjoying the party atmosphere.
This year’s pro-am boasts a purse of $22,000.
The event will tee off on Friday with the Tohatsu Sponsors’ Day.
That’s when the event’s sponsors enjoy a round of golf on the Morisset layout with the professionals.
The day culminates with the pros’ shoot-out – a nearest-the-pin challenge in which players hit their approaches to the 18th green from about 110 metres.
The shoot-out always attracts plenty of spectators around the green, and from the Morisset Country Club balcony.
Last year’s shoot-out was won by Kurri Kurri pro Chris Ford who managed a hole-in-one.
The professionals then back up to play back-to-back rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
Among the leading names in this year’s field will be two-time Australian Open champion, Peter Lonard, whose career earnings are approaching $20 million.
There were joint winners at last year’s pro-am, with Andrew Dodt and Neil Sarkies sharing the spoils.
Sarkies will return to defend his title, although Dodt will be missing as he now plays on the European PGA Tour.
Former US Tour player and Toronto product Nathan Green will tee it up, as will Leigh McKechnie, Brad Brad McIntosh, and Gosford’s Grant Binns.
Morisset golf course superintendent Nathan Reynolds had the course in sublime condition, Stretton said.
“The course is awesome. It’s in the best condition that I’ve seen it in for a pro-am,” he said.
The event’s major sponsors this year are Affordable Wardrobes and Classic Building and Design.
