The Catalina – the undisputed star of the show in years past – was on route to Rathmines from Albion Park when the flying boat “developed an engine problem and had to emergency re-route”, the festival posted on its Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
“The Catalina was seen passing, however could not perform the flypast as planned.”
Nonetheless, organisers labelled the festival a huge success, with thousands lining the shore at Rathmines.
