Lake Macquarie City Council’s sustainability manager, Alice Howe, said with the success of last year’s free outdoor yoga session, council was bringing more yoga, including children’s yoga and seniors yoga, to the festival.
“Last year’s free yoga session by the lake proved so popular with festival-goers that this year we will be delivering even more yoga as part of the program,” Dr Howe said.
“We’re pleased to welcome back Anamari Becker from Whole Living to host an outdoor yoga session that will suit all ages and abilities. Anamari will also be holding children's yoga workshops throughout the day, moving to the music from family drumming workshops with Earthen Rhythms.
“We’re also excited to have Yogic Wisdom join us at the festival this year. They will be hosting a gentle, seniors’ yoga session, suitable for over-55s, and those with limited mobility.”
The Living Smart Festival attracts 20,000 people annually, making it one of Lake Macquarie’s largest community events.
This year’s festival, to be held on Saturday, September 23, will feature an appearance from Paul West from River Cottage Australia, the Lake Macquarie Farmers Market, a pop-up ‘raid my wardrobe’ event, native plant giveaway, kids’ activities, market stalls, educational workshops, live entertainment and more.
