Among those names will be Doug Eaton and Greg Best, two former mayors of the old Wyong Shire Council.
Former Wyong Shire councillors including Doug Vincent, Carl Veugen, Lisa Matthews, Lloyd Taylor and Adam Troy are also among the candidates running for election across five wards in the inaugural Central Coast Council election.
Two former Gosford City mayors – Chris Holstein and Jim Macfadyen – are also back in the running. And former Gosford City councillors Vicki Scott and Chris Burke are also seeking election.
Not all of the familiar names belong to former councillors.
Former Australian Test cricketer Nathan Bracken, of Jilliby, is contesting The Entrance ward.
And long-time anti-airport campaigner and Wyong Council critic, Laurie Eyes, of Wyong Creek, is contesting the Wyong ward.
There are 94 candidates across the five wards, including 33 Independents. Three councillors will be elected from each ward.
Candidates in the Budgewoi ward, listed in the order they will appear on the ballot paper are.-
Group A: Doug Vincent (Labor), Jillian Hogan (Labor), Rowen Turnbull (Labor). Group B: Greg Best (Ind), Maree Best (Ind), Amelia Best (Ind). Group C: Garry Whittaker (Lib), Clive Sargeant (Lib), Rhiannon Beckers (Lib). Group D: Helaine Taylor (Save Tuggerah Lakes), Cheryl Deguara (STL), Steve Beton (STL). Group E: Sue Wynn (Greens), Greg Simmonds (Greens), Anna Durkin (Greens). Group F: Julie Watson (Ind), Peter Harris (Ind), Gary Blaschke (Ind). Michael McCarthy (Ind).
