Principal Graeme Selmes said the senior school curriculum information evening on Tuesday, June 13, was for current and prospective students and their families.
Mr Selmes said the school offered senior students a high quality and broad curriculum for HSC study.
“The purpose is to give parents and students the opportunity to see what we offer for our senior curriculum as well as gain a further understanding of the HSC and beyond,” Mr Selmes said.
“There are exciting changes to the HSC. These new initiatives include changes to the way that assessment is conducted both at the school level and with the HSC exam itself, along with significant changes to current courses and the introduction of new and exciting courses, giving our young people more choice and more opportunity.”
The evening will include presentation from teachers and leaders of pedagogy for the various courses offered at the school.
Careers advisor Craig McLoughlin and assistant principal (teaching and learning) Roisin McVeigh will also speak.
The evening will begin in the St Paul’s hall, before participants will be invited to attend short sessions where staff will provide more detailed course information.
“These sessions will be in a variety of areas within the school so it also offers newcomers a chance to see our learning environments,” Mr Selmes said.
The principal said he looked forward to giving visitors a look at “the quality Catholic education” offered at St Paul’s.
The school’s record of achievement was reflected by the results of the school’s graduates who had gone on to study at universities Australia-wide, gained traineeships with outstanding companies, and are “young men and women of faith, spirit and integrity”, he said..
“We welcome the opportunity to showcase what we do at St Paul’s and look forward to meeting new families,” Mr Selmes said.
The senior school curriculum information evening will be held on Tuesday, June 13, from 6.30pm.
Families from outside the current cohort are invited to contact the St Paul’s High School office to receive a Senior Curriculum Handbook before the night.
