Students gained sponsorship from family and friends to skip and raise money for heart research. Students participated in their four sport houses, and support from parents added a carnival feel to the day.
“With a total of over $3000 raised, the school with only 38 K-6 students has raised more money than schools with hundreds of students,” the Heart Foundation’s Montana-Rose Tozer-Chahine said.
Two thirds of that total came from a tenacious six-year-old, Kyrah Page, who is now the No 1 fundraiser for the foundation in Australia.
Kyrah’s skipping campaign began with a dog leash, and an infectious enthusiasm for jumping.
The school’s jump off day is now featured on the Heart Foundation’s website as an example for other schools.
