Rathmines Catalina Memorial Park Association has announced this year’s festival will be held on Sunday, October 29.
The festival, now in its 11th year, has become one of the red letter days on the Lake Macquarie calendar.
“This unique event is distinctly Lake Macquarie and unrivalled throughout Australia,” a spokesperson for the event producers, Big Bang Events, said.
“Now one of the largest community gatherings in the area, the Rathmines Catalina Festival offers a diverse range of entertainment for locals and visitors.”
Money raised from the festival helps Rathmines Catalina Memorial Park Association to achieve its goal to build, with Lake Macquarie City Council, a centre at the site of the former RAAF base at Rathmines.
The centre would house a restored Catalina as well as be a museum, education and conference facility for community and businesses use.
Big Bang Events is seeking applications from food and market stallholders to take part in this year’s festival.
“Due to increasing patron demand this year's market area will be relocating and expanding to make use of additional parkland. As our event is growing, early applications are essential,” the spokesperson said.
