A large crowd gathered around the symbolic cenotaph at what most consider the home of our Anzac services.
For the past few years, first the main service, was moved to the Civic Green and then, the Dawn Service was moved to the same venue.
The reason for the relocation of the main service was the impact on visitors and the cenotaph from Burdekin Park’s flying fox colony.
And, although there were a number of bats circling overhead it did not disturb proceedings.
