Lake Macquarie City Council said the work would focus on improving pool water quality and the indoor air environment, as well as upgrading the existing change rooms, and constructing new changing places for patrons with higher needs to complement the centre’s hydrotherapy facilities.
“The refurbishment of Toronto Swim Centre is a high priority for council,” a spokesperson said.
Funding for the work has been allocated under the council’s Community Facilities Renewal Program.
Council is assessing submissions for the design tender, and expect the design process to start in April, with construction expected to start in 2018.
