Tiny Timmie will be one of the major drawcards at the Wyee Roundup, a large-scale fete organised by Wyee Public School’s P&C.
Timmie’s owner Sue Lewis describes herself as the pony’s “mum” and “faithful human servant”.
Timmie stands at just 61cm tall, and Ms Lewis said he was a remarkable animal, by any measure.
Born six weeks premature, and with twisted legs, Timmie was no certainty to survive his first days of life.
“He’ll be two years old this month, and he’s absolutely thrived,” Ms Lewis said.
“He is just in your face, and he loves everybody,” she said.
Ms Lewis owns several horses which she cares for at her Bushells Ridge property.
“Timmie thinks he’s a giant big horse,” she said.
“He can’t get up the steps [to the front porch], but he’s a normal horse in every other way. He loves carrots, and he gets a couple of handfuls of chaff. But he still needs hoof care and teeth care, like every other horse.”
Ms Lewis said she bought Timmy Timmie with a view to using him as a therapy horse.
“Horses, in general, have a really great energy, and are often used in a range of healing work,” she said.
Human heart rates lower when they are in the presence of horses, she said.
“It’s just an affect that all horses seem to have. It’s a little bit of magic.”
Ms Lewis said Tiny Timmie had recently made a brief visit to the school to see how he would interact with the children.
“Everyone who saw him at the school smiled, and he had a few photos taken,” she said.
“He just loves everybody, and he soaks up the attention. That’s why I think he’ll be perfect for the therapy work.”
Tiny Timmie is too small even for children to ride.
“But he will wander around on Friday and have a cuddle and a kiss with the kids,” Ms Lewis said.
The Wyee Roundup will be held in the school grounds from 2pm to 8pm this Friday, November 25.
The event will also feature a superhero live action show, live music, carnival rides, dog sledding, market stalls and gourmet food vendors.
